Term 2 - Week 3 & 4

Edge GreenWay | Mixed Media and Collage using Natural Materials - 18th May 2022

In this workshop we will collect flora from the surrounding area and experiment with ways of including it in a mixed media artwork. We will take a walk outside and collect natural “art tools” to make marks: feathers, twigs, grasses, pine needles, seed pods, are a few examples. Leaves and flowers can be used as stencils and masks or as printing tools. Layer leaf and floral shapes to create an instant artful print.

Home learning core subjects:

English - In addition to our weekly novel reading, Mali also enjoy non fictional reading comprehension texts and learn various reading strategies from short paragraph/texts.

Science - We have been learning about Ecosystem and the relationship between Food chain & Food web. Mali had a go at creating Food web using https://creately.com/lp/food-web-maker/ which was a lot of fun!

Math - Mali continues to learn a more complex Addition & Subtraction strategies. She is getting better at subtraction with 3 or more digits. Mali also enjoy doing doing a One minute math challenge with a simple multiplication and learning more about money!

Mali have been busy learning how to draw Anime/Manga through a drawing apps she recently discovered. Below are some of the sample drawings she has done so far.

Year 4 Term 3 - Week 7 & 8

Week 7 & 8  Mali has read 2 novels this term so far so as a treat, we chose an ebook from the library that I can read to her. She really enjoyed being read to and simply follow the words and find out new vocabulary and discuss storyline together. We decided on Stunt Kids by Trent Roberts. We have read 5 chapters so far this week. Mali continues to do her reading comprehension workbook independently. Science & History - we have decided to incorporate more independent learning when I am away. Mali will complete her assigned tasks via email and send an email to me when she had completed her tasks. It's a great way for her to spend some independent time while staying with her Nanna. Math - Art - some sample of Mali's digital drawing.

Year 4 Term 1, Week 5

 Week 5 - We have made it half way through Term 1 now yay! The rain continued all week so our HS weekly catch up was cancelled. Apart from our twice weekly swimming lessons, most of our activities were indoor. This week we did some sample work on "Story retell" so Mali spent a bit of time planning and created a funny book with some texts and illustration of the "Life of Wilbur" so far 😂 Then the usual English work... For Science, we learnt about Volcano....Mali did a beautiful diagram using Drawing Desk software instead of doing in on a construction paper. Mali also did an introduction to coding using Scratch. We will download ScratchJr app so Mali can start learning some basic coding blocks. We continue to learn more Fractions and introduction to basic Division in preparation for Long division procedure to come over the next few weeks.
