Week 7 & 8
We have made it almost at the end of Term 2 now and I would like to start this blog post with the social aspect of homeschool lifestyle. This topic seems to be the main concern for most parents when deciding whether to homeschool their kids.
We attend weekly Inner west homeschool meet up at Federal Park in Annandale every Tuesday and spend at least 3-4 hours there so Mali can enjoy outdoor play with her friends. As for parents, we also get to hang out and exchanging ideas on how we can make home education more fun and engaging.
On Friday 10th June, we join a fascinating walking tour of the Sydney's former GPO to discovery the rich history of one of the most iconic heritage building in the city. The resident tour guide brought us back through time and shared many stories about the early settlements with us and how all the mails were handle at this very building in the early day. We even get a chance to meet with a 98 years old lady who used to work at the GPO back in the day.
English - We started using Reading eggspress reading comprehension workbook (year 3) to supplement our term novel study. We are planning to do 1-2 units each week so Mali get to practice her reading, writing and learn a bit of grammar along the way.
Maths - we are learning about Fractions and Problem solving math questions. Mali finds Math word problems quite challenging at this stage so we will try to incorporate a few questions each week so she get use to them.
In addition to the core Math learning, I also bought Year 4 Excel Math workbook so for Mali to practice what she have learnt by doing one unit per week on her own.
Life skills - Mali usually spent every Monday at her Nanna's house where she get to do all the fun stuffs like baking, slim making, gardening and craft activities.
Here are some of her most recent Cupcake decorating where she made her own icings in various colors and created her own design.
