Year 4 Term 1, Week 4

Week 4 - It has been raining everyday this week which is not ideal for our weekly homeschool catch up. Fortunately, Katie has offered to host a small gathering at her house which was great. We also had a chance to discuss future excursions and workshops for the kids and it looks like our very first Inner West homeschool group excursion will be at The Australian Museum so the kids can visit Jurassic World by Brickman  which should be fun. This week, we decided to mix things up a bit and do a bit more "hands on" learning rather than completing one worksheet after worksheet....Mali definitely enjoy more interactive learning than doing worksheets!😂 Starting of this week with Learning Fraction using Lego was fun. Mali was able to learn simple fraction using Lego pieces. We also play some game on more complex Fraction and see who can collect the most counters at the end of the game. We continue to read Chapter 6 & 7 of Charlotte's web. and learning some English grammar, h...

Year 4 Term 1, Week 3

Week 3 is all about celebrating and re-connecting with Mali's friends. It has been a tough few weeks in isolation while having COVID and transitioning to homeschooling routine. So we started off with a picnic with Mali's school friends at the Quarantine Reserve on Sunday... Then we went to our first Inner West Homeschool meet up at Federal Park Playground in Annandale. It was such a lovely day to run around and play outdoor. Mali also made a few new friends 😉 As for our homeschooling, this week Mali did a lot of learning from her Nanna's house while I was at work. They leant about how plant grow from seeds... Learning new vocabulary from weekly reading comprehension. Continue her art work from last week, learning about Warm & Cool colour... Paper Weaving from her painting. This week English... This week Math, we continue to learn our Times table tips and tricks... Mali crosses out all the Times tables that she already learnt and circle in red the tricky one that she ...

Year 4 Term 1, Week 2

We started our week 2 of homeschooling in isolation with some new vocabulary, written in floral style by Mali. To make it fun, she also made up some silly sentences to use as many new words as possible 🤣 She also wrote a plan for this week... We then continue on with our pre-reading and hand writing. This week we continue our Chapter 2 & 3 reading of Charlotte's web. Mali and I really enjoy this book so far. We loved that we haven't seen the movie yet so each chapter we read together is a surprise! For our weekly reading comprehension, we decided to download some interesting short article from Literacy Planet. Mali will add new words she learns from each weekly article in her "New Words Book" Some Mathletics exercise... continue with Metric units for measuring... Some metal math game while eating Sunflower seeds (someone just made a new discovery of new healthy and yum...
